Obituary

Albert Louis Wyatt, Jr.
1955 - 2024

Albert Louis Wyatt Jr., a devoted firefighter, first responder, educator, proud father, and brother to many, departed in the afternoon of March 26th, 2024. Born on January 6th, 1955 in Manchester, Tennessee, he lived a full and adventurous life of 69 years before passing peacefully at home in Tallahassee, Florida with his beloved wife Susan, by his side.

Albert was the eldest son of the late Albert Louis Wyatt and Billie Dove Lester Wyatt. He was a loving husband to his wife, Susan Linder-Wyatt, and their marriage spanned a grand 41 years, beginning on September 11th, 1981, and their compassion for others in the medical field was a reflection of their love for one another.

Albert is survived by his wife, Susan Ann Linder-Wyatt, his children, Albert "Skip" Louis Wyatt III (Jaime) and Kristi Suzanne Wyatt (Keanen), and his granddaughter, Rosemary Dawn Wyatt. He is also survived by his younger siblings, Roger W. Wyatt, Mark S. Wyatt (Linda), Timothy L. Wyatt (Samantha), and Dawn Dove Wyatt Rose (David) all who will carry forward his love, strength, wisdom, and resilience.

Albert was a leading firefighter and paramedic. His registry number was 52. He chose to run towards danger to help those in need, and his dedication became the foundation for his lifelong service to others, both personally and professionally.

Albert was a lifelong educator, teaching Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) to healthcare providers across the nation. He worked in conjunction with the American Heart Association, presented before congress and contributed to the design, implementation, and training of the Automated External Defibrillator (AED). His impact on others not only through education, but friendship was profound.

Like his father, Albert's interests were as varied as they were heartfelt. In his younger years, he was a Gerber baby, and a natural entrepreneur, starting his own newspaper delivery service at just 7 years old. He later helped his father run an antique store, and as an emerging adult became a master diver, worked on the Alaskan Pipeline, attended the Nikon School of Photography and, as he would always say, "jumped out of perfectly good airplanes into forest fires."

Albert loved history - he spent much of his later years expanding his knowledge, connecting with others through service and education, and spending time with his family. Above all, Albert loved his family dearly and cherished every moment with them.

Albert's life was one of adventure, service, and love. His legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him. "To know even one life has breathed easier because you lived. This is to have succeeded." - Ralph Waldo Emerson.
