Deacon Jethro
Conner, Sr.
Jul 21, 1950 — Jun 28, 2022
On Friday, July 21, 1950, in a little town named Twin City, Georgia, Josephine and Willie Conner were blessed with the birth of Jethro Conner, Sr. He was the youngest of a set of twin boys.
Jethro relocated to Oslo, Florida in 1956 and then later migrated to Melbourne. After graduating from from Melbourne High School in 1968, he continued his education at Brevard Community College. Jethro was employed as an electro mechanical engineer for Harris Semiconductor for 27 years. He was a part of several phenomenal contracting jobs including the development of the famous JAWS ride at Universal Studios. He was a hardworking man who made no excuses; he would just get the job done.
Jethro was joined in holy matrimony to Patricia Gail Oliver on April 4, 1994. God blessed their union with two daughters, Jessica and Angel. He was indeed a family man; his children were his pride and joy. Jethro could be seen anywhere his wife and children went. He was very involved with his children extracurricular activities and fully supported their careers: Jessica's semiprofessional basketball career and Angel's military career. Jethro was a blessing, not only to his family, but many others in the community as well having served as an officer with Citizens of Patrol. He was known all over as a great example of a real father and family man.
In his spare time, Jethro loved tinkering with just about anything; some would say that he was a jack of all trades. He spent time calling his siblings to make sure that they were in good spirits by doing "what Conners do best"…making a few jokes and having several wholesome laughs. He also enjoyed watching football and basketball games and readily anticipated attending the games with his family.
Jethro accepted Christ at an early age and continued his walk of faith throughout his life. He joined and attended Shiloh Christian Center from 2004 to 2021. Deacon Conner served as Sunday school teacher and was a part of The Mass Choir and Men Who Cook; he also assisted in maintaining the cleanliness of the church. Deacon Conner proved to be a very faithful and active servant during his tenure at Shiloh. In 2022 Deacon Jethro Conner and his family joined Connection Community Church under the leadership of Bishop-Designate Jeffery A. J. Johnson.
On Thursday, June 28, 2022, Angel's birthday, Deacon Conner answered His Master's call. Those left to treasure his loving memories and undying love are: the love of his life, his wife, Gail Conner; his daughter, Jessica Conner; his sons, Jethro "Pookey" Conner, Jr. and Aaron Conner; his grandchildren, Stephon Amari Butler, Tikira (Brian) Rain, Semaj (Toni) Rowson, Etienne (Tatiana) Conner, Christopher Harris and Shanqual Bland; 14 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Noah "C-boy" (Mamie) Conner, Juanita (Charlie) Warner, George (Maggie) Conner, Julia Mae Conner Jacobs, Sarah MacDonald and Daniel "Boone" (Lee) Conner; his bonus grandchildren, JaLayah Nelson, Khazen Pierre, Noelani A. Pierre and Nolan A. Pierre; 47 nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Jethro was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Josephine Conner; his daughter, Angel La'Vine Conner; his first wife, Gwendolyn Yvonne Conner and their son, Darryl Conner; his siblings: Willie Pearl Hudson, Cilar D. Hunter and Ruby, Thomas, Joseph, David, Guss and Ernest Conner.
