Feb 27, 1955 — Oct 25, 2024
Eddie Dean McCray
1955 - 2024
Eddie Dean McCray was born in Greenville, Florida, to the late Edmond McCray and Hattie Mae Barkley McCray on February 27, 1955. Dean, as he was affectionately called by friends and family, attended Greenville High School (formerly Greenville Training School) until the age of sixteen, when he stopped to assist his mother with his siblings. He was initially employed by Florida Plywood; following that position, he worked for Herman Cobb for seven years. Dean then worked as a logging machine operator for C M Joyner, III, where he retired after 35 years of dedicated service.
On July 9, 1977, Dean was united in Holy Matrimony to his soul mate, Annie Mae Morris.
Dean was an avid coin collector who loved listening to music and doing crossword puzzles; he kept a stockpile of puzzle books around. He loved to work; some would even call him a workaholic because he liked to keep busy. He also enjoyed spending time with his family.
Understanding the importance of salvation, Dean confessed Christ and was baptized on December 10, 2023, during his hospital stay by TMH Chaplain Lance Moore.
On Friday, October 25, 2024, Dean gained his wings and went home to spend eternity with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Those left to celebrate his life and secure his loving memories are his wife of forty-seven years, Annie Mae McCray; children, Marvin (Tonya) Morris and Janunika Ball; grandchildren, Breyon Crumitie, Cameron Morris, Kai Morris, Kwame Conner, Jr., Ka'sai Ball, and Kayzen Ball; sister, Annette Arnold; in-laws, Johnny (Erma) Morris, Fred (Cynthia) Morris, Ray (Melissa) Morris, Jimmy Morris, Bennie Morris, Johnnie Mae (Earnest) Redding, and Barbara (Greg) Hagan; along with other relatives and friends.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Freddie, Edmond, Jr., Willie C., Lester, Ike, Mary Ann, Sallie Mae, and Jimmy.
