Obituary

Elizabeth "Liz" Mays Alexander Jones was born February 20, 1951 to the late Bernice Washington Mays and Johnny Mays in Monticello, Florida and grew to maturity in the Mays Community.

Liz received her education in Jefferson County and graduated from Howard Academy High School in the class of 1969.

Realizing the importance of the Word when Jesus said, "Verily, verily I say unto thee, except a man (mankind) be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God", Sister Elizabeth Mays accepted Christ as her personal Savior and joined Salem African Methodist Episcopal Church under the leadership of Reverend Henderson Lawrence and served faithfully in various capacities.

On June 18, 1971, Elizabeth Mays was joined in Holy matrimony to the late Paul Alexander. To this holy union, God blessed them with two lovely children, Andre and Angela. Liz was considered as a fruitful branch in Christ by her living union with Him and being a true believer.

In addition to her Christian faith, Liz was a paraprofessional in the Jefferson County Schools, assisting teachers by empowering students with an appetite to learn in the classroom and corrected behavior on the buses. Her labor of love demonstrated the joy she received from doing what she loved, working in the church and with students.

Liz always had a smile and cared for everyone. She believed in helping others of all ages. Her pleasing personality endeared her to family and others whom she came in contact with. She had a loving spirit and will be missed by all whose lives were touched by her.

Servant well done! The book of earthly life closed for Sister Elizabeth Mays Jones on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Capital Regional Medical Center.
