Gary Seres passed away surrounded by loving family on October 10, 2026, at his home in Crawfordville, FL.
Gary was born in East St. Louis, IL, one of nine children.
Gary worked primarily as a carpenter. He loved building things with his hands and took pride in the work he completed. You’d rarely see him without a bandana. He collected coins most of his life, always examining each pocketful of change.
He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend. For such a quiet, reserved man, he was gifted energetic children and loved them dearly. He never missed a call to say happy birthday or to wish you well during a holiday. He stepped out of his comfort zone many times for his family, and we appreciate each time he did.
He was better than the fathers before him, and he will be missed dearly. The end of his life was as beautiful as one could hope.
Gary is survived by his two daughters, Shayna and Trista; his stepson, Levi; his grandchildren, Lexie, Asher, and Valon; and his three sisters, Gloria, Priscilla, and Diane. He was preceded in death by his parents and five of his siblings.
A special thank you to Gary’s daughter, Shayna, for everything she has done for him over the years. She did more for him than most people will ever know. Her love, dedication, and sacrifices have not gone unnoticed, and her family will always be grateful.
Thank you to Carma for being a good woman and best friend to Gary until the very end. He never stopped loving her, and she never stopped showing him love.
Thank you to the friends and family who visited Gary so he’d never be alone in his final weeks.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth’s Cemetery, 3609 Coastal Hwy, Crawfordville, FL 32327.
A memorial gathering will follow at Wakulla River Park, 8 City Park Ave, St. Marks, FL.
