Heiko Roberto Kiera was born in Güestrow, Germany on May 10, 1967.He moved to Miami, Florida in 1994. He became a US Citizen and established a successful career as a wildlife videographer. He was also an author of children's books.

He is survived by his family in Germany; a beloved goddaughter, Luna Simone Contrera of Miami, Florida; and his loving friends in the Florida Panhandle.
