Jeanette Katrina Thompson-Washington was born on July 11, 1955, in Jefferson County Florida, to the late John Henry, Sr. and Aggie Bell Keaton Thompson.
Jeanette graduated from the Jefferson County public school system in 1973. She also attended and graduated from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. Jeanette had a great passion for working with children hence she was employed by the Jefferson County Daycare in 1985.
In 1986, she met Garfield Washington. On July 14, 2001, they were joined in holy matrimony in Margate, Florida and stood by each other until Garfield's demise.
Jeanette accepted Christ in her early childhood. She was baptized under the leadership of Reverend W.F. Coefield and joined Casa Bianca M.B. Church. Later in life, Jeanette started attending Welaunee M.B.C. with other family members. Finally, she joined Mt. Pleasant Ministries of Capps under the leadership of Reverend Charles G. Smith where she served faithfully until her health started to fail. She attended services online when she could. Jeanette was a great Bible Scholar who read the bible faithfully.
On October 26, 2022, at 7:45 a.m., Jeanette departed this life at HCA Florida Capital Hospital in Tallahassee, FL. Those left behind include: a loving and devoted brother and sister-in-law, Ed and Doris Keaton of Monticello, FL; a half sister, Renea Moore of Jacksonville, FL; her step-children, Reverend Gary Washington of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Vickie Washington and Camish Washington of Margate, FL.; her uncle, Vernon Thompson of Naples, FL; her great-great aunt, Lula Mae Taylor of Ocala, FL; her sisters-in-law, Gloria, JoAnn, and Annette Thompson; her brother-in-law, Jessie Hughes of Monticello, FL; her goddaughters, Arianna Thompson of Tallahassee, FL and Jennifer Thompson-Jackson; her caregiver, Josephine Blackmon, of Monticello, FL; a special friend, Karen "Kay" Howard Jackson of Tallahassee, FL, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Jeanette was preceded in death by: her husband, Garfield Washington; her parents, John Henry and Aggie Bell Thompson; her brothers, Clarence, Reginald, John Henry, Jr., and Richard Thompson; her sisters, Shirley K. Reddick, Andrea, Gloria, and Geraldine Thompson.
Viewing/Visitation will be @ 4-7pm, FRIDAY, November 4, 2022
