Obituary

Mrs. Marian Cora Baumann

September 26, 1929 - May 16, 2023

Marian Buck Baumann, 93, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 in Tallahassee Florida.

She was born September 26, 1929, in Wimbledon, ND and was the youngest child of Fred Buck and Cora Fischer Buck. She had a lifelong, close bond with all her siblings and was proud to be one of a loving and Christian family. She was raised on a large farm near Wimbledon and often pitched in to drive tractors and combines and often helped with the farm animals.

In 1949, she married Joseph C. Baumann while she was living and going to college in Aberdeen, SD. The family moved often as jobs opened up in various parts of the country. Some of the places they lived and raised their family of six children were Moses Lake Washington, Oregon, Pierre, SD, Minot, ND, Fort Pierre, ND, Tucson, AZ, Virginia, MN, Erie, IL, and Davenport, IA.

Separating from Joe, she became a working mother in the 70s and 80s and worked for the Iowa School System and the Juvenile Justice System. When her children were grown and married, she moved South to the warmer weather of Florida where she loved not having to shovel snow and enjoyed growing a small container garden on her back porch.

She was very dedicated to the upkeep of her yard and into her 80s continued to do all her own yard work including pruning trees, mowing her large yard, and fighting with the elephant ears that constantly invaded the small creek that bordered 3 sides of her yard. She had a particular fondness for birds and usually kept a feeder or two going year round, plus a hummingbird feeder each summer.

She had a particular soft spot in her heart for all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved hearing about their lives and enjoyed watching them grow into adulthood.

Marian was preceded in death by her son, Jimmy. She was survived by her other children Sandy, Diane, Dorene, Denise, and Jerry, as well as her 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Internment services will be held in Tallahassee Florida in early June.
